Wrestling has lost it's greatest Champion! by Fidel Sierra the Cuban Assassin and Fantasy

We were deeply saddened by the news that Jack Brisco has passed away and would like to express our condolences to his Family and Friends. He was a good man and the best champion ever and I would like to honor him by sharing some of my memories with you.

Growing up I knew at an early age that I wanted to be a wrestler. I would skip school and go to the Sportatorium every Wednesday to see the matches. I would stand in the back, along with Bill Alfonso and another very tall guy, who later on became known world wide as Hulk Hogan and watch some of the biggest names in Wrestling like King Curtis, Dick Murdock, Rick Flair, Dusty Rhodes, and the late Eddie Graham, just to name a few. The list goes on and on, it's long and impressive. Jack Brisco, however, stood out above the best.

His matches against Dory Funk Jr., Harley Race, Dusty Rhodes, Terry Funk and Rick Flair were legendary and had you glued to the edge of your seat for the entire time, even if the match lasted an hour, which it often did. He would draw you in and never let go. He was a master of his craft, and my inspiration.

Many years later, I had the honor of teaming up with Jack and Jerry Brisco in Jacksonville, Florida. I messed something up during the match and got my ass chewed out. Not because I had made a mistake but because I joked about it afterwards. Their professionalism and dedication to the business changed my entire attitude, perspective and approach. And I thank them to this day that they cared enough to do what they did.

Jack Brisco didn't just draw big crowds, but he was respected by his peers and an inspiration not just to myself, but many other wrestlers as well. When watching the late Curt Hennig in the ring, you would see Jack Brisco's influence, the same with Ricky Steamboat, and the list goes on. In fact, the first time I wrestled Ricky Santana, he gave me a Mexican style arm drag and I remember telling him, do you know how to give a Jack Brisco arm drag?

Jack Brisco was a special person, a great man and the ultimate wrestler. His influence and contributions will live on in generations to come and his spirit will live on in our memories. Regardless, he will be greatly missed, and may his family take some small measure of solace in the fact that he is in good company.

Jack Brisco, may you rest in peace!
